Lake Titicaca, Peru
Libertador Lago Titicaca
Libertador Lago Titicaca is your own private island, a world of its own at the end of Lake Titicaca. The moment you set sail from the pier, you will leave your cares on the shore and reconnect with yourself as you enjoy the peace and quiet. Location
The Libertador Lago Titicaca stands on a rocky hill by the Bay of Puno at one end of Lake Titicaca. The town of Puno is a 15 minute taxi ride away, or a leisurely 30 minute walk along the shore of the lake.
Accommodation
The hotel is a large, white, contemporary building which looks out across the lake.
With an orientation ensuring that all the 123 guest rooms have lake views through huge picture windows, it seems that there’s nothing between you and the great outdoors. The decor is simple, with a neutral colour scheme that does not distract from the landscape.
Gastronomy is a serious affair at the Libertado, and you’ll definitely want to dine on the Peruvian specialities in the Los Uros restaurant.

The drinks menu in the Taquile Bar is imaginative, so slip in here at the end of the day and treat yourself to a coca sour.
There’s a pool table and plenty of board games, so you can drink and relax whilst looking out at the city lights of Puno and the reflection of the moon on the surface of Lake Titicaca beyond.
At 3,800m (12,5500ft) Lake Titicaca is the highest navigable lake in the world. In this environment, we would recommend that you prioritise the sauna, steam room and jacuzzi in the hotel’s spa ahead of the gym.

Experiences
- The hotel has its own dock for departures to Lake Titicama’s amazing floating islands, home to the Uros people who have lived here for almost 4000 years.
- Longer day trips by boat to the islands of Taquile and Amantani will give you an experience of contemporary but traditionally rural Peruvian life.
- The city of Puno, a short walk or taxi ride away, it brimming-full of authentic Peruvian attractions such as the Cathedral, the Carlos Dreyer Museum, shops, bars and restaurants.
- With its phallic statues, the Temple of Fertility of Chucuito, just south of Puno, might appeal. Other nearby sites of archaeological interest include the burial towers at Sillustani and Cutimbo.
