Location
Jawai is a unique wilderness where game-rich grasslands and rocky granite outcrops meet the waters of the Jawai Bandh - the largest water reservoir in western Rajasthan - which attracts an abundance wildlife.
Accommodation
India has traditionally been some distance behind Africa in the quality of its tented camps, but Sujan Jawai demonstrates that the country is more than able to catch up and excel in quality and experience. An Indian maharaja would be fortunate to call this tented camp home. It’s a property completely in balance with its ecosystem, with a light, sustainable environmental footprint.
Close to a lake filled with salmon pink flamingo, and surrounded by temple ruins and shepherds herding their flocks, it is a truly idyllic location.
The luxurious tents are created from canvas and steel and filled with a clever mix of vintage and contemporary pieces. The creamy white decor is complemented by occasional flashes of fiery red, a nod to the turbans of the local Rabari nomads.

Huge black and white photographs of leopard taken in the park decorate the walls, a reminder that this impressive predator is king of the local food chain.
There’s no set time for meals; you’ll eat whenever your safari drive ends or you start to feel peckish. Many of the dishes are cooked in front of you in the live kitchen, though there are substantial buffet options as well.
